Kalwall® Achieves Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) Certifications
Translucent wall systems and skyroofs® are highly sustainable daylighting options.
As part of Kalwall Corporation’s commitment to sustainability, the company has developed EPDs for its façade and skyroof® (or ‘on-slope’) daylighting systems that have been certified by UL.
The UL certifications signify that Kalwall’s EPDs are in conformance with the stringent type III environmental declarations set by UL Environment and the International Standards Organization.
Kalwall has been delivering sustainable daylighting solutions to building occupants all over the world since inventing the original translucent sandwich panel in 1955. Kalwall’s mission is to empower both building owners and designers to fulfill their visions and create healthier buildings that balance performance, comfort, beauty and value.
“For us, a commitment to sustainable building isn’t about checking off a single box,” says Sam Keller, principal of Kalwall. “We’re proud to substantiate our long history of sustainable practices with this certification, but it is our mission and core values that make Kalwall a healthy building choice in the past, present and future.”
At Kalwall, we address sustainability by:
- Daylighting to improve human health + wellness.
- Implementing energy efficiency and thermal performance measures that reduce a building’s carbon footprint.
- Providing a durable product that stands up to fire, wind and other natural or man-made threats.
- Creating a product made from recyclable materials.
Kalwall has been incorporated into the designs of thousands of LEED® certified projects and has also been specified in multiple Passive House, Net Zero Energy buildings and BREEAM® projects.
